Preventing Over-Training

Trammell's Health & Fitness Tips - Health, Fitness, Nutrition & Training Tips to Keep you Healthy and Motivated

It's important to know when to quit working out to prevent over-training. The best thing to do after you have worked out for 6 months to a year is to take at least 2-4 weeks off to let your muscles heal and recover.

Signs of over-training are:

  • fatigue
  • irritability
  • losing strength
  • depression
  • not motivated to workout
  • and being susceptible to colds and flu

As a Portland personal trainer I emphasize to my clients to LISTEN to their bodies.
